Southside Animal Hospital was founded in 1989 by Dennis Emerson DVM, MS. Since that time it has been dedicated to providing high quality health care for all breeds of companion animals. In addition to routine pet care, Southside Animal Hospital is also involved in wildlife rehabilitation and supports many local animal adoption and rescue programs.

Our Doctor

Dr. Emerson received his Veterinary degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He has practiced companion animal medicine in Winston-Salem for over 25 years. Dr. Emerson enjoys treating both medical and surgical cases, with internal medicine being of special interest. Dr. Emerson also cares for birds, reptiles, and exotic pets.

Dr. Emerson and his wife Pam have two grown children, Lauren and Sarah, with two dogs, two cats, three horses and multiple chickens.
